For anyone linking in from outside The Time Sink, the following pictures were taken with a Fujifilm DX-10 digital camera and are designed to show the color-correcting capabilities of that camera.

The first shot is with baseline settings. I used no flash and the only light, other than the fireplace, was an incandescent overhead fixture ten feet to the right of the shot.

One incandescent side light, no correction

The next picture is the frame above lightened and contrast-enhanced in Adobe PhotoDeluxe.
One incandescent side light,

I then made a shot with the "White Balance" on the camera set to 'Incandescent'. I won't show that picture as it is too dark to be worth the download time.

This next picture is that too dark shot corrected to the same specs as the second picture. I'd have to say for a night, indoors, poorly lighted, let's-just-see-what-happens shot, it came out usable. A tripod would have helped; but the point was to test the ability of the camera to correct for the reddish-orange coloration of tungsten-filament bulbs and I think that worked.

This last shot is with the camera in full auto mode. In this case, the flash is engaged and the color corrections are off.

I should note that no cats were harmed in the making of this series. The beastie is not under sedation; this is his natural state.
